When Your Dad Plays Music for Parties...

...sometimes he brings home balloons! This monstrosity came from the grand opening of some new computer store. Alan tried to bring home two but they wouldn't fit in the car! t

Street Fair Fun

One of Evelyn's classmates invited us to their street fair--AWESOME! Everything was free, including face painting and photos taken at an adorable old-fashioned booth. A few wigs & feather boas was all it took to lift Amelia's spirits (Evelyn had run off w/her classmate), & now we have these sweet pictures of the two of us.

By MySELF!!

She insisted on working SO hard to independently tie that little bow on her shirt. I wish she'd put the same attention into brushing her hair. :)

More sunflowers!

We like them, too--and couldn't believe how tall they grew! (Sounds like I'm talking about my kids, doesn' it?) Our next door neighbor gave me these fragile, spindly little seedlings--that grew into these!

Book time on Mom & Dad's bed

Our girls are in a stage of playing ALL the time--it is so exciting to see them making stuff up, creating little dollhouse or stuffed animal worlds, and reading piles of books just for fun. :)

Destiny's 1st car

Destiny saved up her money all summer and just bought this 1992 BMW wagon :)

Sunflowers

Sunflowers make me feel happy inside :)

Help

This is 1/4 of our basement. It kinda grosses me out to post this. My dream would be for it to be empty so my kids could have someplace to ride their scooters and roller skates when it rains. :) Why does it feel so daunting to get rid of stuff?

When kids take pictures...

...they can be so random! This is the cover of the Jazz history text Alan is using for the class he teaches on Thursday  nights. I think the cord over top of it is the one I use to upload pictures from our camera to the computer. It's kind of a freaky picture of Miles Davis, eh? :)

Playground Fun

My brother's daughter and our Evelyn the day after Hurricane Irene--I don't think we've seen any blue skies since! It just keeps raining and the camp my brother runs is flooding again. Please pray!

My Puzzler

I love these 100 piece Disney Princess puzzles. They are just my speed. Problem is, Amelia wants to do them by herself, with no help from Mommy, and Alan teases me when I'm sitting at the dining room table by myself in the evening doing one. :)

First Day of School

First day of school for the senior and the sophomore.......

Feeding the Giraffe

We took some friends to the Maryland Zoo on Saturday. You get a glimpse of how long a giraffe's tongue is if you are a little to shy to get any closer!

Dreaming

Wish I could wake up to this view everyday.I'm applying for jobs, please pray for me :)

Labor Day Tradition

This is at least the third year in a row my mom has taken my girls and me to the state fair on Labor Day. We've got it down to a science--arrive as soon as the gates open, tour the "Cow Palace," then be first in line to get the all-you-can-ride bracelets for the midway. My girls are monsters--they want to ride EVERYTHING. Let's just say I think my equilibrium has aged beyond my ability to endure "The Zipper." It took me about 3 hours to feel normal again. (The above is not the Zipper--it is much tamer and the smile on my face is too big.)

juicing

Not sure if it is the deformed carrots or the taste, but I don't think Gene likes juicing.  We watched the documentary Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead and thought we would juice...it's not going over well.

working hard

Hi girls! well a have not solved my technology dilema...I'm still not as smart as my smartphone which I had hoped to download directly from....lost my camera the day of my capstone project...so I now have a camera again and will download from my computer...until I can make the download from smart phone work...so, here is my desk.  Teaching a class for the first time is taking alot of plannign man!  how do you like my "new" phone...I just like these nice big phones that you can rest on your shoulder with the big push buttons! Gene set it all up for me...so retro! and so 70's gold!

Rainey at the beach

This is my baby and she started her first job today at the airport.....my kids are getting old but I don't feel any older......

First Day Fun

We went to dinner at Chick-fil-A to celebrate Day #1 of school. This is Amelia in the Kids' area (where, if I may rant for a moment, there are hardly EVER any parents supervising the children who "MUST be under the supervision of an adult." Ok. I've ranted.) It's fun to have those little family rituals. :)

First Day of School

Schools all opened two days late due to power outages following Hurricane Irene, but here they are...my two favorite girls on day #1 this past Wednesday. This is now my favorite picture of them. :)
